Jwarieh

What’s the idea of the magazine?
Jiwar. Mujaawarah. Jwarieh.
The idea of the magazine is to create relations through interacting with and publishing of texts, in the sense that the writer is immersed in their surroundings, context, self and those around them, coming into close contact with them to relay the stories and experiences that are lost in the intensity and frequency of unfolding events, tales which hold and document our histories.
In addition, through the selection of texts we hope that writers will engage with each other and those coordinating the magazine, working together to edit texts for publishing.
Aljwarieh is also an invitation to anyone who wants to begin writing and sharing their story. You can reach out to us to begin together, whether with an idea or developed texts.
Our goal is to document and transfer everything that is happening to us, the oppressed people, the resolute, the resisters in Palestine and the rest of the world, so that our words gain power and our voices are raised louder.
We want our words to be free, which is why we’re starting with what is available to us in terms of people’s support through different means. So this is an invitation to people and organizations to support our efforts, as we’re not seeking donor funding. We hold faith to the idea as a way of life, doing what is possible to bring it to fruition. We believe that this work is priceless, grateful to do what we can and hoping that you will see value in supporting our efforts.
